CONGRESS HAS FAILED AT OVERSIGHT—WHY NOT USE THE IGs?

    The FBI, CIA, NSA, IRS, and DOJ have proven incredibly obtuse and out-of-control since the Trump Revolution. Though Congress is their overseer by law, oversight has been met with partial or total obfuscation by every federal agency, not just the serial offenders listed above.
    At least two serial offenders—more likely three--were exposed just this week as having attempted to stage a coup of a duly elected President—using a now discredited hoax of their own creation as pretense. This is by the admission of the man who now publicly admits plotting the coup—disgraced former acting FBI director, Andrew McCabe.
    McCabe conspired with senior officials at the Department of Justice to set this operation in motion in something one might expect in a third-world dictatorship or  Serbia’s Black Hand traitors at the turn of the last century—yet none of these conspirators have found themselves under scrutiny for their crimes. McCabe was fired for lying and other ethics violations, while never investigated for his known and now admitted treason.
    From other investigators, we’ve learned that NSA Director, James Clapper, and CIA Director, John Brennan were also neck-deep in the ‘insurance plan’ to remove the president, with assistance from the Obama State Department to arrange visas for banned Russians suspected of espionage, to use in the set-up of the false narrative they intended to use to bring down the President of the United States—an unimaginable event—yet it happened and their conspiracy is now provable if not admitted.
    So until we have a Convention of States (or revolution) to rein in or unseat these unelected tyrants, what can we the electorate do about it? Unfortunately, most of our elected officials appear to be complicit (except their target, President Trump), so who or what remains in our constitutional republic to expose and oust these gremlins who think our government belongs to them?
    The only tool still more-or-less under the President’s control are the IGs—the Inspectors General—within his own executive departments who are authorised to have full investigative powers within their respective agencies. These Inspectors are nominated by the President and approved by the Senate, which is still under the control of his party—thanks largely to the Presidnet himself—certainly not through their own brilliance or great job performance. These IGs serve at the President’s pleasure, meaning he has the power to fire those currently sitting comfortably in those positions who are failing to do their jobs, and replace them with aggressive watchdogs who can get the documents and evidence of wrong-doing—perhaps criminal doings--necessary to clean house.
    There are 73 IGs with 13,500 employees working for them whom I suspect will be very difficult to motivate against their fellow Deep Staters, but the point is that there is no shortage of manpower to get this job done. Historically when even criminal wrong-doing is identified within these departments, the employee simply resigns, which ends the IG’s power to investigate them, so the rules will need to change so these citizens are treated like any others--immediate referrals for criminal prosecution as it is discovered, and as these same agencies do to We the People.
    It’s time to take off the gloves and give these departments oversight from within, since they stubbornly refuse to accept it from without. The days of ignoring subpoenas to appear before Congress, and either refusing to comply with document requests—or simply redacting, hiding, or (in the case of the evidence of Hillary Clintons criminal conduct) destroying documents, servers, and devices before it can be seen—must come to an end. Democracy only survives in sunlight.
