are we a police state yet? q & a # 10

I'm posting one question and answer a day.  We're almost done....

I've gotten quite a bit of feedback, not all good.  I fully expected that as these facts were meant to alarm you, not give comfort.  We are no longer the nation we are supposed to be, which is my point. Ignoring that truth only allows it to continue.....

QUESTION # 10.  What is the only first-world nation that claims to be democratic or free but does not have independent Offices of Ombudsmen to prosecute corrupt officials and grant relief to citizens who suffer their wrong-doing?

THE WINNER?: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

FACTS: The first four nations to institute independent Offices of Ombudsmen to grant relief to citizens and prosecute corrupt officials  (Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark) were also recently named the four most transparent and best governed nations on earth.  In fact, the  140 nations considered by most to be free and democratic, have now all followed their wise  example, except one--the United States of America.

Congress eviscerated our Constitutional right of habeas corpus in 1996 with A.E.D.P.A., to prevent challenging wrongful incarceration, yet the judiciary has been proven by the recent Columbia Law School study to get it wrong in  73% of even death penalty cases.  Is this a situation that can be allowed to continue?

Obviously Congress and the Supreme Court think so, so we need an independently elected Office of Ombudsman in each federal district, with the authority to prosecute prosecutors, judges, and any officials who violate our Constitutional rights,  AND this office needs to have the authority to grant immediate relief to citizens so violated.

If our leaders, government, legislators, prosecutors and judges won't follow the United States Constitution, then we need our Ombudsmen to protect us from them until a few are in jail themselves.  We don't need a Revolution quite yet, and we might be able to stick with just a Devolution if we follow the best-managed nations on earth and put Ombudsmen in place like they have done.

Back to rule of law. Back to the United States Constitution.

Viva la Devolution!!

Howell, maybe there is no one that would want to take on this responsibility and have to live under the protection of those being overseen. . .
